I guess Petar's post inspired me to write this, I'll tell you where overtaking on the right took me.

I was taking the Subie to the beach house and to get there you have to go through some really fun mountain roads. For a SUV the thing is quite nice to drive because AWD, Boxer 6, good weight distribution and meaty tires so I normally drive it hard (that's why I get 12 mpg). When I got to one of my favorite parts there was a small Chinese truck going half the speed limit and about 6 cars behind him. After 15 minutes of frustration and constant double yellow lines (twisty roads and blind corners) I decided to overtake them all at once by going on the inside of a hairpin like corner, I know these roads like the back of my hand so I knew there was no problem in doing that as there was enough room on the hard shoulder.

I thought for a second "I'm free!" and then I looked ahead. There was police car parked on the side of the road, face to face with my Subaru Pacifica. I stopped and I saw him looking at me, questioning himself as to what the fuck I had just done. The Chinese truck and all 6 cars that were behind him went by. He sent me on my way, and told me never to do that again.

I did, because I had to overtake them again.
